Freyja Necklace by manson-brown Freyja Necklace by manson-brown
This necklace was featured in the Sept. 2004 issue of BeadStyle magazine.

This 'beadmail' necklace is based off of Japanese 6-in-1 hexmail. So why the Norse name? Beats me.

(Do you hear that? That's the sound of many samurai turning over in their graves.)

It's made with a subtle palette of freshwater pearls in varying shades of mauve, peach, white, silver and blue. (That's poetry for 'I had a ton of pearls that I didn't know what to do with, and was determined to use them up if it killed me.') The pendant is Czech crystal taken from an antique (ca. 1920) chandelier. Wired with sterling silver. Closes with lobster claw clasp.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I like it a lot (maybe part of the reason being that one of my nicknames is Freyja...though my name being Jessika is doesn't make much sense...which is to say it makes every bit as much sense as any of my other nicknames, lol) Anywho, much love for this piece...a :+fav: methinks, and after so much staring at your work today methinks you get a :+devwatch: :D

Ahh, so this be the prized piece that is going to be famous :D Tis most lovely indeed :)

If I had the money I'd buy this for my mom as a gift (if she'd accept such a fine gift as this).

I wonder though, do you sell your custom made jewelleries?

Thats really nice, I've been looking at your work and I have to say it's all very lovely!
I just signed up on DA and was looking everywhere, like a lost little puppy dog, trying to find a category that suited my art... and thanks to you, I finally found it :)

Thank you, thank you!

Yeah, I kind of wish there was a more... intuitive? place to put jewelry. I've found jewelry under at least 7 different catagories, heh. So many people think it belongs so many different places, I still kind of keep waiting for somebody to come out of nowhere and yell at me. So far so good, though. ;)

And welcome to DA.

Thank you, thank you! I'm glad other people can see the flower in it too. When I asked my husband what he thought of it, I got a blank look and a 'Huh? Flower?' :D

Really beautiful necklace, do you make them to sell? It's stunning. :D

He'd better not! We're running short on forks; kitchen gremlins keep stealing them and spiriting them away to whatever afterlife abandoned cutlery faces. We can't afford to have him go sticking forks in unsuspecting girls without their permission. And if he does get their permission... well, that's even worse. ;)

Otherwise, thanks! (Even if it was under threat of bodily injury). ;)

and to top it off, I'll hit the submit button over and over and over again. Spamming the world with repetitive garbage nonsense, wasting valuable bits and bytes and database space. Save the bits! I speak for the bits for the bits have no tongues! bleh.:blahblah:

Cool. Nice to see someone that can truly craft something. Me, I'm kinda crappy. I can make swords and things, but not well. Beauty is hard to find these days.Thank you.

art is best when you can use your body as part of the display :D

I kinda thought about that -- selling them at the Ren Fairs and such... only problem is, I think I've got mild carpal tunnel (big surprise, eh?) and I can't do too many before my hands try to scream and run away. Sigh.

I do wear them alot though... Though I imagine I look funny since otherwise I'm a jeans and combat boots type, heh. =P
